PAY LESS FOR COLLEGE: CHESTERFIELD COUNTY OFFERS FREE WORKSHOPS WITH A TUITION TACTICIAN
Why pay full price for college when you don't have to? College financial consultant Michael Jones will reveal secrets of navigating the college costs maze in three October workshops at Chesterfield County Public Library. Families may be able to reduce their college expenses by tens of thousands of dollars - even if they don't qualify for need-based financial aid.
Jones, a longtime Richmond-based financial services planner and advisor, will explain how to plan for college costs using academic, cash flow, financial aid and tax reduction strategies. Participants will learn:
- How to pay for college with pre-tax dollars and have the IRS help pay for a big piece of college expenses
- How students can significantly increase their chances of winning private scholarship money
- How to get money from colleges even if students don't qualify for financial aid
- How to attend a private university for the cost of a state school
- Exactly what to do before applying in order to maximize what the colleges offer
- How to avoid some of the biggest mistakes parents make when paying for college
The workshops will be held at:
- Bon Air Library, Oct. 11: 7-8:30 p.m.
- Clover Hill Library, Oct. 18: 7-8:30 p.m.
- Chester Library, Oct. 25: 7-8:30 p.m.
The workshops are intended for families of middle school and high school students, and are free, but participants should enroll to assure a seat. For more information, or to enroll, call 804-751-2275.
